Investors.
The Netherlands is a leading market in the field of broadband. However, the proportion of fibre-optic networks is still relatively small , while the need for more bandwidth is growing by the day. Reggefiber is therefore convinced that there is a market for a future-proof network with virtually infinite bandwidth. We consider this network to be real estate, or infrastructure with the characteristics of a utility, such as power or water, with the revenues being earned over a 20 to 30 year period. This is an innovative vision in the world of telecom.
market.
Broadband has prompted a significant growth of new services and innovative ICT solutions. All these new applications in turn create a demand for more capacity. As the copper network can to all intents and purposes not be upgraded any further, coax is left as the only available alternative in most areas for consumers requiring higher bandwidths. There are disadvantages associated with this, however, such as a significantly lower upload speed . In addition, the speed is not always uniformly stable. Optical fibre is set to change this.
National roll-out.
In its role as ‘Passive Operator’, it is Reggefiber’s ambition to implement a national roll-out of an FttH (Fibre To The Home) network that is capable of offering hitherto unimaginable speeds. We employ an open network model to achieve this. We roll out the network. Then we open it up to other parties (Active Operators) who allow their service providers to offer services on the network. Other service providers can also obtain non-discriminatory access to the FttH network. Reggefiber’s revenues consist of the fees paid by the ‘Active Operators’ for the use of the passive network.
