18-01-2012 New entrants on fiber network

In 2011, a new operator and several new service providers started activities on the fiber network of Reggefiber. The new operator is GlasOperator, an operator on the fiber network in Rotterdam and – soon – on the fiber networks in Alphen aan den Rijn and Vught.

17-01-2012 Full focus of Reggefiber on the continued roll-out of fiber

Rijssen, 9 November 2011 – Reggefiber is going to focus fully on its core activity: laying and operating a large-scale open fiber network. Reggefiber is steadily connecting Dutch households to fiber, thanks in part to the sale to KPN of the parts of the Reggefiber organization that supply network services to providers of fiber services. This was agreed between the parties on November 8, 2011.

Mission, vision and strategy

Reggefiber’s mission is to offer all homes in the Netherlands access to fibre-optic cable, the fastest broadband network in the world.

Vision.

Society is increasingly dependent on information systems that process large quantities of data. That calls for more and more bandwidth and a high quality infrastructure. Existing cable networks are nearing the end of their bandwidth, however. Thanks to its unprecedented capacity, fibre-optic cable is the future. Reggefiber is working to construct a nationwide open network that offers customers and end users maximum freedom of choice and virtually unlimited possibilities.

Strategy.

Municipality by municipality, Reggefiber is connecting the Netherlands to fibre-optic cable. Each time with the same standard approach: first ensure a basis of support, then roll out the network in partnership with the municipality. At Reggefiber we focus on the long term to recoup our investments. Once the fibre-optic cables have been laid efficiently and sustainably, we activate long-term rental contracts with the highest possible penetration. Reggefiber’s fibre-optic network is an open network that is made accessible to all ‘Active Operators’ on a non-discriminatory basis. In turn, they can provide the service providers with access to the connected homes.
