Approach

Installing fibre-optic cables requires enormous investments. That is why fibre-optic cables are laid first in areas and towns and cities where residents enthusiastically embrace this new network and are willing to actually use it. Reggefiber installs a network wherever there is sufficient interest in the form of subscribers. Consumers pay nothing for their connection.

Open network

Reggefiber’s network is an open network. Reggefiber is obliged to offer every active operator access to the network. In this way, every service provider has the opportunity to offer its services over the fibre-optic network through one of these active operators. Reggefiber has no say in which operators may or may not access the network. Reggefiber has a duty to allow every party to access the network. OPTA supervises this accessibility and has also regulated the revenue that Reggefiber can achieve by means of maximum tariffs. The customers have the benefit that they are entirely free to choose from the different service providers on the network.

Organisation

As Reggefiber has a decentralised organisation, we can quickly engage with administrators, business partners and customers at a regional level. This guarantees a local approach, in which commitment, customer focus and a personal approach have top priority. By outsourcing activities in a clever and task-oriented manner to local partners, Reggefiber is able to execute many different projects simultaneously.

Joint venture.

On 20 May 2008, Reggefiber concluded a joint venture agreement with KPN under which KPN acquired 41% of the shares. This joint venture received approval from OPTA (the Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority of the Netherlands) and the NMa (Netherlands Competition Authority) at the end of 2008.
